On Friday 13th November 2019 The Land cookery competition for the Pambula-Merimbula Branch was held in our hall at 24 Toallo Street, Pambula .
All residents of New South Wales were eligible to enter the competition, men and women, with a junior section for 18 years and under as at 31/3/20, and also for 12 years and under as at 31/3/20.
This years recipes are varied and interesting, some examples are Peach Blossom Cake, Plain Butter Cake, Carrot & Ginger Loaf, Banana Bread, Wagon Wheel Slice, Gluten Free Caramel Walnut Slice, Plain Traditional Sponge as well as a Fruit cake and Sultana cake and Pudding.There are also recipes for Jams, Pickles and Relish plus other cakes in competition.

DONNA LATTER’S CHOCOLATE CAKE
(this is a separate section and very popular every year. Donna Latter was a CWA Member)
125gms butter
1 ¾ cups SR flour
1 ¼ cups caster sugar
½ teaspoon bicarbonate soda
2 eggs
1 cup milk
2 tablespoons cocoa
Place all ingredients into a bowl and beat well until the chocolate mixture changes colour and all the ingredients are combined. A processor can be used if desired.
Grease and line a 20CM tin (round or square).
Pour mixture into the tin.Bang the tin slightly to even out the mixture.
Cook in a moderate oven for about 1 hour or until cake is cooked
TIP: If when touched in the centre, the cake comes away from the sides of the tin it is ready. When cool, ice on top with chocolate icing.
